I would like to invite everyone here to join in on an adventure of building a small farm out of a one acre plot of land. That sounds like a lot of fun right? Sure it is. So come on in and have some fun with us while we all learn how to do this together. The grand idea here is to make my one acre plot of land as much of a sustainable farm as I can. I will have a good variety of products available so I do not have to rely on just one item to survive. I will also be making my own solar devices such as water heater and panels for electricity. My goal is to have all of it up and running full-bore in five years. This all came about because of the economy and loosing my last job and almost loosing my house. I figure this way if I get laid off the job I have now I will be able to make ends meet with the farm. So, do you think it might be a challenge to work a full-time job and put my farm together at the same time? Heck Yea that's what makes it so much fun.
Some of the things I will be growing here on the farm will be Bamboo, vegetables, chickens, herbs, plants, and flowers. I will do all of this with Hydroponics except the bamboo. If you have any ideas that you think would be helpful they will be welcome here at Mikes Home Grown Farm. I want to personally thank each and every one of you for stopping by and visiting Mikes Home Grown Farm.
I set up a VG1 system I had sitting around the farm.I took it down to the Artisan alley in Deland were I have been setting up for the new market.I can use this systems to show my customers how easy it can be for them to grow plants at home. The system has a very wide verity of plant seeds that will grow as time goes on to show you can grow everything in them.
You should always pay attention to what you are eating and feeding your family.
I am having lots of fun at our new farmers market in the alley. my produce is selling very well and the folks there are great to deal with.
I am starting to add some different types of grow houses to help keep production strong through summer and winter weather.
I will be adding a hoop house and a lot more growing pots in the next month
I have started to consult and install all sizes of gardens in family yards. This will be in my local area. I can instruct you how to do it long distance and send you the kits to install yourself.

This is a link to the university of Florida small farms information. They have done a lot of research through the years and share the information with use to use.I was lucky enough to attend there class in live oak Florida to learn this. You will not get as much information as i did from there class but what they have here is good stuff.I want to encourage every one who visits my web sight to become as interested as i am in hydroponics and this is why i want to share this information with you.
The truth is mother nature will always win.The since world needs to study how nature really works before they make life altering changes to our food and what ever else they want to change. Then mother nature will not pop up and bite them in the butt.
